About the Author:  Alan Shuback has been Daily Racing Form's foreign correspondent since 1993. A graduate of Northwestern University, where he studied journalism and music, Shuback first ventured to England in 1983 for a racing holiday at Ascot and Goodwood. A 1985 trip to Paris introduced him to the charms of Longchamp and Chantilly. In 1990, he joined the staff of The Racing Times, where he developed the double past-performance line for foreign horses that is now employed by Daily Racing Form. He was the American correspondent and columnist for the British racing daily The Sporting Life and the New York representative of the International Racing Bureau from 1992-1998. A resident of New York City, he is a co-author of DRF Press's Bet with the Best books and has covered races in Britain, France, Ireland, Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Dubai, Hong Kong, Japan, and Argentina.

Praise for Global Racing

"Global Racing is one part travelogue, one part history primer, and one part handicapping tool that will challenge fans to dig deeper when analyzing global shippers as they invade North America. The course descriptions are extremely thorough, and Shuback's natural passion for the subject, and extensive research on the subject matter, absolutely leaps off each page. The book inspired me to take a trip to the Curragh for the 2009 Irish St. Leger, and I was aided greatly by the information presented within its chapters. A must-read!"
- Dan Illman, Daily Racing Form

"Global Racing...is one of the most useful US-oriented international racing guides so far, as it covers all three angles: bettors who need to handicap foreign imports to America, horsemen who want to send their horses to foreign races, and racing fans who want to take a trip overseas."
- Cindy Pierson Dulay, horseracing.about.com
